Dr. Blalock would like to remind you that during this time, youd want to pay extra attention to your teeth and gums. Changes in your body and mouth will occur during your pregnancy, and can sometimes cause dental problems to arise or become worse.
We d like for you to schedule an appointment if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant. During this time, Dr. Blalock will clean your teeth and provide any needed treatment that will help lower your risk of having a dental emergency during your pregnancy. All of this information helps us make the optimal plan for your treatment.
When you are pregnant your hormones change. These changes can make your gums more sensitive to plaque and you may experience more bleeding. Its also common for women in their second trimester to experience something called pregnancy tumors that will appear on gums. Dr. Blalock will examine these and determine if they need removed. You may need more frequent professional cleaning to help avoid problems during your pregnancy.
