New Year- New Toothbrush!
Happy New Year from our entire team at Cardinal Dental. We’re thrilled to begin another year of serving you and our other clients at our office. We also look forward to meeting new patients in 2018 as well. If you haven’t checked out our office before, come in and see us and discover the warm, caring and professional difference there is at Cardinal Dental.
With the New Year rolling in, it’s also a time to consider getting a new toothbrush. Have you thought about how long you’ve been using your current toothbrush? If you’re unsure if you need to replace your toothbrush, here are two things to take into consideration:
- Age of your toothbrush- The American Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrush every three to four months. You may want to do this sooner if you’ve been sick.
- State of your toothbrush- If the bristles on your toothbrush are frayed, they are no longer effective for complete cleaning. You’ll also want to consider where your toothbrush has been stored. If you pull a used toothbrush out of a spot that has kept it damp for a long period, get a new one. Your toothbrush can hold bacteria and it can grow in damp and dark spaces.
As you consider buying a new toothbrush, keep in mind that not one toothbrush fits everyone’s needs. There are dizzying styles and types of toothbrushes to choose from. Choose a new toothbrush that has a comfortable handle that helps you grip it well. Most teeth need soft bristles to brush them. Ask Dr. Blalock, DDS if there is any reason why you might need something other than a soft bristle toothbrush. Also keep in mind the size of your mouth and choose a tip that fits and can maneuver comfortably inside your mouth.
Do you have you regular cleaning and checkup scheduled for 2018 yet? If not, it’s time to contact us and schedule your appointment today at Cardinal Dental.
